About the event

As the QWHA Archive Team work through the multitude of papers collected in the past, we come across interesting, remarkable and intriguing little stories from colonial women. This time, we are sharing some of these wonderful stories with you: how we found them, what we found and how they affected us. We learn about how different their lives were, and sometimes how familiar they still are to us today.

At this hands-on session you will:

  • see documents that have been unearthed
  • read a romantic story in greeting cards
  • listen to author and QWHA member Sharyn Merkley speak about how information was deciphered
  • learn what we find in old photographs.

This is a members-only event. If you're not a member, why not join? It's only $50. Join now

Time: 9.30 am – 12 pm

Cost: $5 (Morning tea and printing of resources)

RSVP: Please contact the Secretary on 0408 355 198 or email qwha.miegunyah@gmail.com. Numbers are limited so please RSVP by 19 August 2023.

We acknowledge the Jagera and Turrbal people as the Traditional Custodians of the Country we live and work on at Miegunyah. We recognise their continuing connection to the land, waterways and skies, and thank them for protecting this region and its ecosystems since time immemorial. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and extend that respect to all First Nations people, acknowledging too that they never ceded sovereignty of the land, skies and waterways.
