About the event

Enjoy canapes and drinks on the verandah at Miegunyah after dark as we celebrate the opening of our exhibition 'Pioneers in Petticoats'.

The theme of this year's Australian Heritage Festival is 'shared stories'. The Queensland Women's Historical Association celebrates and promotes colonial women's histories at Miegunyah House Museum. Our exhibition ‘Pioneers in Petticoats’ focuses on the Macarthur sisters and their intertwined histories, both with each other and the state of Queensland. The QWHA holds a large collection of items belonging to Catherine Macarthur Leslie, who first came to Queensland in the 1840s. Some of these items will be on display, including a nationally significant autograph book. Join us for a tour of the new exhibition after the official exhibition opening.

Date and time: 28 April, 6–8 pm

Price: $30 Members; $40 Non-Members

We acknowledge the Jagera and Turrbal people as the Traditional Custodians of the Country we live and work on at Miegunyah. We recognise their continuing connection to the land, waterways and skies, and thank them for protecting this region and its ecosystems since time immemorial. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and extend that respect to all First Nations people, acknowledging too that they never ceded sovereignty of the land, skies and waterways.
