About the event

Learn the intriguing Kawandi technique developed by the Siddi community in India and make a small 'Kawandi' (quilt).  This simple hand sewing technique is a great way of using up your scraps and is unique in that you will work from the outside in. It's relaxing and enjoyable – perfection is not required! Nicky will show you how to make and embellish your 'kawandi' as well as give you lots of ideas on how you can turn your creation into a fabric origami pouch, bag or other useful item.

Requirements: A requirements list will be supplied, but if you prefer, you can purchase a kit for $10 which will include the following:

  • Recycled textiles for back and front of 'kawandi'

  • batting; needle and thread
